Simple Socket Preservation for General Dentists

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This two-hour course will focus on the principles, rationale, and methodology of socket bone preservation. This is a course for anyone interested in maintaining the ridge width after extraction and site preparation for optimal implant placement and longevity. The course will consist of the most up-to-date technique in socket preservation. Following the lecture, all participants will perform hands-on surgeries on the models using the biomaterials discussed in the course.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course Participants will be able to:
- Understand the benefits and rational for ridge preservation
- Understand how the biologic events during healing of the extraction socket relate to ridge preservation concepts
- Understand the role of different biomaterials on ridge preservation techniques
- Understand the differences between ridge preservation and ridge augmentation procedures
- Understand basic surgical concepts related to ridge preservation procedures

Event Speaker: Dr. Ahad Soley
Speaker’s Bio: Dr. Soley earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Marquette University and his Certificate and Master’s degree in Periodontics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He is also Diplomate of ICOI. Dr. Soley is a clinical instructor at the Department of Periodontology at the University of Maryland. He lectures on dental implant dentistry and periodontal surgery both nationally and internationally.
